It also seems that both Africa and the old U.S.S.R region have some rather depressing languages&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.edtechtesol.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/happymap_800big.jpg\" title=\"Happy Map\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.edtechtesol.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/happymap_800big.jpg\" alt=\"Happy Map\" height=\"400\" width=\"569\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Certainly, I do not think that the language we use defines our mental health, but I wonder to what degree different languages lean towards positive or negative feelings&#8230;  I have often heard Japanese people say that it is easier for them to express themselves in English, as they find the language less restrictive socially, but I wonder if any studies have been done on this.<\/p>\n<p>Visit the map in context <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geostrategis.com\/p_wellbeing.htm\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I just came across an interesting site with a &#8220;Happiness Map&#8221; of the world, and it seems that most of the English speaking countries rank highest.
